The Welland Canal Drained

I’ve never seen the Welland Canal drained before—have you? Well, oh my gosh, I happened to be driving along there one day in February and was so surprised to see the water so low. It was a rare sight to see it like that, so I had to do a quick turn-around just to grab these images before the levels changed again.

It's kind of weird seeing this massive landscape looking so still. It really gives you a different perspective on what it’s like when it’s hustling and bustling during the summer and eerily quiet and almost dry during the winter.

This is more how I'm used to seeing it...

For comparison:

Looking at the pier and the rocks, you can really see the dark waterline where the water usually sits during the summer.
